Pair 2...
Town aligned (as if there was any doubt) Limited Tracker (awesome) Pair chat (check)
Three shots at Tracking. I am of a mind that we should use it the first night no matter what (similar to a one shot, use it before you lose it). After that I think we need to really think since we only have three total.
I swear One of these games I am going to pull the card that I am never mafia as proof that I am town

So you probably already saw my little show in the main Gafia thread (sorry Burbeting!).
I was speculating about the design this morning (before I asked if Mafia had their own chat), and I thought for sure that the pairs would mix scum with town, and each player would have an individual role. I'm a little sad this isn't the case, but oh well, here we are - two guys hunched over one cup, as it were.

I wanted to keep the design of this as vanilla as possible, since pair games haven't been done in gaf before .

Anyway, that aside, I think we should take this time to talk about the game and formulate a plan.
As of right now, I think the partnership thing is simply a big distraction, and not really necessarily to succeed in the game. We very well could just play this game in shifts as if it were a normal Mafia game, taking turns with the one account.
I think it would be to our detriment to disagree on votes. I think splitting our votes only hurts our voting power, especially in a game using Karkadorian Math voting (more votes needed to pass). If other pairs are essentially getting their 2 votes on one pair while we're splitting votes, that essentially makes our votes really weak.
On the other hand, we should consider the scum tendency to bandwagon on votes - which this game will invite a lot of, since pairs will use the same excuse of not wanting to dilute their vote.

From the third post in the game thread:
" Strict majority system is in place, so 50% of the votes + 1 (For example, during D1 majority is 16 votes)"
There is no mention even to karkadorian maths, at least none I can see.

Really depends on how you define "50%"

It's just regular strict majority Kark. Don't be mean to our bear

Do I get to learn all of the intricacies behind karkadorian algebra and how it can change the course of a game? Because, if so, then yes!

I agree, we need to be an iron front on this game. It's how El Topo and I played Season 1, and I think it worked well.
I am hoping for some miscommunication on day one, none of the pairings strike me as a "mismatch" but there are some that are definately going to be dangerous (especially if they are mafia).
1. [m] Kingkitty & [m] Hyperactivity 2. [m] Karkador & [m] Zippedpinhead 3. [m] Timeaisis & [m] FluxWaveZ 4. [m] LaunchPadMcQ & [m] Gorlak 5. [m] Blargonaut & [m] Kawl_USC 6. [m] UltraJay & [m] Boo Boo'n 7. [m] Coppanuva & [m] Flame_AC 8. [m] *Splinter & [m] Cabot 9. [m] TL21xx & [m] Camjo-Z NEW 10. [m] MagnumBoy20xx & [m] batsnacks 11. [m] Rest & [m] Karu 12. [m] Kyanrute NEW & [m] Retroid 13. [m] El Topo & [m] Miracle 14. [m] NeverForever & [m] CzarTim 15. [f] Sophia & [m] Ty4on
These are the groups I will be reading into day 1. A couple of special exceptions: After peeking on Coppa playing in Volcano, I think he's got the chops for hiding while scum, but It will be interesting how he plays this game I largely ignore Blarg for at least 1 day cycle on principle now. same with Daryll, and Sorian (I know they aren't playing this game but I include them as part of my special exceptions clause). All of them are very distracting day 1. However, by distracting everyone else and being a lightening rod they could be useful watcher targets. .
I've played a game with at least most of these jokers, The only exceptions might be miracle and flame_AC, so it should be interesting.
I will let you know one thing that hurt me in star wars but I tried to fix in DGronpa and WOOF 2.0. GAF is blocked at work but I read EVERYTHING (GAF.NET is NOT blocked at work).

Random thought:
There might be a role in the game that is like "lovers" - that is, two pairs of people get together for a foursome. That could also mean they all chat together. Gotta keep an eye out for that kind of alliance.

Good thought, how would we be able to tell on that though?
It can be hard to find normal lovers let alone 4 people in some sort of swinger relationship

Maybe just noticing two pairs of people who vote the same way? I mean, it's not necessarily something we have to worry about (since they're town), it's just thinking out loud, really.
Now, let's talk gambits!
I think it would be fun, but maybe not a great idea, to pretend that we got into a personal, heated argument in this chat and aren't cooperating with each other anymore.
We could also spin this into a roleclaim, where we are a couple going through a divorce and don't actually speak to each other, but that might invite suspicion that we're "loveless"
We could also claim to be a Doctor or some-such, and then Track ourselves and see who bites?

Tracker and Watcher are different roles . Tracker: Targets a pair and see who they visit. Watcher: Targets a pair, and sees who visits them. You would see yourself visit yourself.

We would see ourselves visit ourselves. BUT we would see whoever else visited us as well. I still think karkador's plan has merit. We need to keep that in our back pocket, but not as part of a doctor or tracker claim. Maybe if we discover someone else, we can do it as part of a blind date claim? Blind date role: we have never met each other before this trip down the tunnel of love. However! once during the game we can "get bored" and be treated as two different roles for 1 day/night cycle. (Since we aren't really together yet).

No, the tracker only sees who their target visits, if you self target you will only see yourselves visit yourselves, you won't get any information about anyone else who might visit you .

Also what's up with flux, rest and time?

Post by zippedpinhead on Feb 14, 2016 13:24:29 GMT -8
I think with flux and Time's gambit, they are likely trying to make a mountain out of a molehill of some kind.
*splinter and launchpad' teams are trying to fly under the radar.
Coppa's team is doing about what I expected especially if they actually ARE a Miller.
So how active do we want to be? I'll probably post one more time today (it is Valentine's Day) and more in the next few days

So, I hate to use meta-reasons, but I find this Flux claim to be incredibly odd in light of his partner's absence. Before the game, Time said he was going to be out all of today.
Clearly, it seems they spoke about this before the game started, if Flux is going to launch into this claim only minutes into the game start.
But why claim if your partner is inactive? My guess is that he has other partners - and claiming a role cop is easy if you're scum and already acquainted with 5 or more other players who can name a role.
My guess is that they're scum, but another team is the actual scum rolecop.

I actually laughed out loud when you posted "GAFia strategy guide" and ignore blarg for the rest of day 1.
Seriously funny stuff. I'm thinking that flux/time may be some sort of wolf pup role. It or a straight tanner/jester (which would be insane).
Coppa's team is acting weird. But not lynch day 1 weird. More like track tonight weird.

I know it's V-Day and all, but the game has been weirdly quiet.
And this thing with Flux and Time is REALLY strange.

I just realized what Blarg/Kawl claimed.
Miller tracker... Except WE are the town tracker (with no Miller caveat).
So how do we play this. I say we go in on flux/time, and watch Blarg/kawl tonight. I think it is far more likely that they are scum (maybe with a tracker function) than as a Miller.

Haha, yeah. First of all, "Miller/Tracker" sounds like the weirdest combination; nevermind that we're the trackers!
But Blarg is really annoying about flipping on his claims, so I'm going to let him settle into this lie a little longer.
