Kristoffer says: I need more eyes for this.
Sounds referential. I got nuthin.

Smell-wise, there are werewolves. As for the eyes thing, yeah, the reference is that the Old Ones put eyes in humans' brains to let them see higher planes and stuff. Pretty common reference: the idea is super creepy.

Squidy says: None of it is bad per se but it all stinks to me. Anyone in the lore particularly smelly, or with an excellent nose? Hmmm...maybe a beast role, as hunters afflicted with the plague experience a gradual lycanthropy, turning them into werewolves. Could the moon presence be a lycanthrope?

Good thoughts, keep in thread for night phase. Helps us decide who to kill.
Zipped says: Easy there, tiger.
Mean anything?

Yeah...gradual lycanthropy? 4/24 scum? I'm thinking a neutral/alternative scum werewolf clan that can recruit. So yeah. Can there be two groups known as Mafia, mods, or must one hypothetical group be known as Neutral?

Everyone is making wolfy noises.

What's a powerful soul related to a monarch/king/prince?

Haha, a lot of false positives. It'll be hard to parse through who's who.

A powerful soul? Maybe talking about the Lady (Queen who hunted hunters)...but could be Father G

Anything soul- or monarch-related is going to be a reference to Dark Souls ("Bearer of the curse, seek souls, larger more powerful souls" is what the level-up NPC says in DaS2 every time you talk to her, and "Are you...the next monarch?" is another of her lines), so probably not a breadcrumb but just speaking in flavor. I'm assuming everything actually in-game will be BB-flavored, so DaS-flavored stuff is just funsies. (as a side note, squidjy's "We don't talk about that game" is because DaS2 is considered the worst of the Soulsborne games)
As far as beast/wolf-related stuff, the werewolves (referred to in-game as Beasts) are the obvious bad guys at the start of the game. As you progress you find out about other sketchy groups (like us, the Healing Church), but if I didn't know what the mafia were flavored as I'd assume they were either Beasts or Kin/Old Ones. So they could be breadcrumbing something related to Beast roles (possibly a secondary mafia faction), or they could just be talking in flavor ('cause it's really obvious flavor: the game is sort of set up/advertised as 'hunt the Beasts' and the Cthulhu-esque flavor is more of a twist/swerve).

Ah, excellent. You guys are both great.
Probably seath is being vaguely role play esque rather than making any subtle claim.
Mazre came out complaining of a curse, which could be a reference to the day opening post, or from his own information.

Haly
Well, that is possible, yes. In fact, what I personally want, is for more non scum members to annoy the town as a whole into voting for them. I see no need for speed.
Haly seems primed to jump on the batch of players who want the day to end earlier. A possible point for leading him around.

That's true. There's a lot of deflection going on, so maybe there are three forces in this game?

I suspect so, because of our team size. Also the "threats to Mafia " part of our win condition is something I've never seen before. Usually it's about size.

Is it remotely possible for werewolves/beasts to be the powered town members? I don't want to accuse a Beast of being Mafia and then find out they're town and I should have known that from my own role card.

His first posts, lifted from a previous game we played together. He chose to quote a scum player. When I noticed, he said DISCOVERED.
Arguing to No Lynch is considered scummy around here, could be a signal to attract team attention.
When I asked him straight out if he was scum, two posts later we got an admin post of Cleric Beast.
All seem to be talking to me (lost partner generally gets the names of team members).

So, if there's a group of wolfy players, they probably want to target us.
Heed this ambiguous language, friends. We're assuming these are beasts. But it would be obvious by now if someone was a beast. In fact, in Bloodborne, people turn into beasts, and don't turn back, so I think we should expect that. Further, who are the real threats? I think the enemy does not consist of beasts at all.Kristoffer says:
Ok i type that backwards. Kris looks like suggesting beasts aren't the mafia. Is he a beast? Haly said *chew* in another post after using the toothless line. Mods wont answer my multiple Mafia group question.
Just, keep your extra eyes out for beast references, in case our wild speculation is at least part right "

I agree with you on the beasts distinction. Maybe they also have an unknown alliance they're trying to scope out.

Yes, camjo might be being himself.
2nd partner option: never forever As seath said, he's spamming "arianna grande" gifs. Note the misspelling. Arianna = woman of pleasure = one of our safe role names. If partner got same safe names, which a mod may or may not confirm, and I've given up on getting information out of scrafty that she doesn't want to share.

Freakinchair
I hadn't paid much attention to this at the posting time. How werewolf y is that?
3rd partner option: Kalor. Who makes no signals whatsoever to the rest of the scum team. Sigh. Please tell me this isn't true.

That quote seems more neutral chaotic though. Reminds me of the vigilante hunters. Also, what safe names are there?

WARNING RANDOM LORE SPECULATION
So I went to read bits of the wiki after Scrafty posted her cleric beast post. Insight is gained by finding bosses. Ri gets a power after gaining sufficient insight, which sounds like Role Name Cop. Ver has the ability to find Moon Presence, a single boss character. I have an unblockable kill. Our hidden partner has unknown abilities.
It is quite possible that Moon Presence can look at role names or look for a particular other character, or has a partner that can. Since Moon Presence is important for us to kill, it could have kill resistance. Possibly if we use the normal kill instead of the strong kill, it would fail. Could even be permanent, meaning it would need to be lynched if the strong kill wasn't available.
The discovery of the Cleric Beast/Bridge provides an insight. The town as a whole may have an insight count in the background which triggers stuff. I expect more tourist card data if that's true. Possibly another one in the first day phase. Would also mean camjo didn't trigger it being posted. A town Insight rating could trigger Night, and then Blood Moon phases. Presumably something would change at that point. If so, it could be related to time. I have a power that disappears after night 3. Haly drew attention to day 5, saying he's going to be powerless at that point.
Thoughts on these thoughts?

Huh...patches sounds sketchy so I'll go with Sick room doctor. Ok. For a role power I suspect poison doctor would be reasonable. It gives you a reason for looking at people, and you can be seen doing that, but it doesn't do anything if they aren't poisoned. I could claim town vig. Maybe. Since Patches can be aggro and vigilante can kill town accidentally, that might be taken as a town power. I certainly can't claim vicar, too associated with the group. woman of pleasure would lead itself to a claim of ordinary, or a roleblock, or possibly a fruit vendor. Gives blood to someone, it powers them up....decent option for Ri, since he might get a power later.

That makes sense, Moon Presence being this games detective. In that case, it would be best to get them killed early on, or lynched. Though, if we're found having investigated them and they die right after, that seems suspicious.
