Ah, the ability to post has been granted us by the great ones.
I am suspicious of the concept that these roles were decided by RNG. Whatever Gafia traditionally uses for the alleged RNG must have a strange sense of humor and irony.

I am posting to test the post count restriction. Sometimes it gets a bit off.

No, it's good. Our post counts do not increase.

Verelios, are you a noob to Mafia play, or just to the gaf group?
Ri', how much experience do you have? You've been away for a while so this is our first meeting. I look upon your historical play with respect.

Proudly replying that I'm new to Mafia play, but like to casually swing by threads as they're going on as a spectator.
Hey, hey, hey, let's have fun and hunt a lot ^_^

I'm pretty new, too. I've played 3 games. I was scum just once and got killed my first day, so....not much experience AS Mafia in particular.
What is your role? Any special moves?

I'm the Workshop Hunter. I can submit a name every day phase (I think) to find the moon presence and if I'm right and he's successfully lynched we get a double kill next night phase.

Post by weemadarthur on Jun 8, 2016 11:35:09 GMT -8
The Moon presence is not our hidden partner? Does it specify lynched? Or say killed or something more vague? Otherwise that line sounds a bit like our hidden partner....
I am godfather, with expiration date because I don't keep well Plus i have 1 extra (unblocked) kill on top of our normal night kill. Name = Vicar
But I know nothing about the lore. Soulsborne not being my sort of game, I joined this particular game for the complexity level.
Do you know how you want to play during day one? Which of course lasts 4 real days.

Oh, it says killed. I must have mixed it up while thinking of first day lynching.
As for how to play, I haven't thought much of it. I'd assume anyone who has the detective or equivalent job should be hunted first, but I'm open to different plays.

Ok, you should never do that in the main thread it's completely against the rules there and will get you executed by admins. Ask scrafty if you need to delete it here, but otherwise don't edit posts either. Retro in my last game was willing to let go of a little subtle editing here and there in the scum thread, but really it's better than make a new post. Don't feel pressured to post quickly. I'm glad to read that even if it's a naughty, because you mixed two separate parts of your role together. The hidden partner part is written exactly the same in my card, and I assume Ri's. But the moon thing is completely separate. It is probably the "threat to scum" that we must eliminate. So hold off until we can work a bit of strategy, k?

Don't mention the moon in the main thread, it would be noticed. Do you want me to give a quick rundown of my impressions of the players in our game?

Please refrain from copying and pasting your Role PM directly into the thread. It's bad form.

I'm relatively new: I played in two games in Season 5. First time being scum, so that'll be fun.
I'm The Holy Blade. I have no powers yet, but I might gain the ability to find out who people are. It says I'll acquire this through encounters with the supernatural. Apparently there's some sort of Insight mechanic (in the video game, various things like finding or beating bosses or particularly spooky areas would give you Insight, and higher Insight would make the game spookier: add in foreboding sound effects, trigger various events with NPCs, reveal invisible giant monster guys, etc.).
The Moon Presence probably isn't our traitor. Lore-wise, the Healing Church is kind of a weird culty thing that uses Old One blood for healing purposes and worship, but they aren't actually aligned with the Old Ones. And the Moon Presence is an Old One. So probably a neutral, I'm guessing serial killer.
Or at least I believe that's how the lore works. Soulsborne games like to make the lore vague and open to interpretation.
Anyway, I'm gonna go check the main thread. Brb!

Hey, hey, hey, let's have fun and hunt a lot ^_^ Feel free to post this in the game thread if you just want to be seen as participating. But don't jump into using the word "hunt" unless you're pretty familiar with all basic Mafia terms, because the moon presence may know they are being hunted.

I'm.....the experienced party? Uh....well this is unexpected.
I'm going to recommend for the moment that we lay low. Due to ongoing friendship and rivalry, the regulars may jump down each other's throats for a while if we stay hands off.
Look for people posting "breadcrumbs", that is, hints about their role name or role ability. Bring up anything you notice, even if it's sketchy. Here! Not there. Don't commit to a game post if you're nervous; put a draft here so we can think together.
Please offer me insight on bb flavor and lore, because you may notice breadcrumbs that I will miss due to not having familiarity with the material.
If you get worried, come back here for a breather. Just don't get confused which site you're posting on, I've done it and it wasn't a good thing.

Alright, nothing going on in the main thread. So, what's our play?
I'm thinking to avoid being caught we need to avoid a few specific scumtells:
-Leading discussion too much/having strong opinions. Scum know way more about the state of the game than anyone else, so if someone seems to know (or believe strongly) something that's a bad sign.
-Cooperating/agreeing with each other. I'm thinking I might pick a random townie and try to match votes with them in hopes that if I go down it'd throw suspicion on them. Right now I'm thinking I'll jump in to defend Camjo.
-Being defensive. Especially D1, don't worry about being voted for. Acknowledge that people can be suspicious of you and let it slide.

Ri, there's only 4 of us and probably a serial killer. Let's plan not to die. I got myself killed last game as scum, but there were 6! Of us and I was easily spared since I took the cop down with me.
So, yeah, just skate around each other. Disagree with anything each other says that is stupid or goes against your gameplay instincts. We can't be seen not to talk to each other.
I'm engaging players I've played with before. I have a slight meta around here.
One or both of you, please give yourself an avatar so we can tell who's talking easier.

1 [m] II-Vanguard-II - Verelios - Nudull - MickD - The noobs are unknown. Nudull has played Mafia before. Others unknown. 05 [-] Weemadarthur A strange player. New to Mafia as a game, but undefeated. 06 [m] Camjo-Z A decent player, but puts "fun" above winning and is capable of making rash decisions if the fallout would be amusing 07 [m] Kristoffer An underrated player imo, who has been away quite awhile. I found his reads and arguments excellent in games I read. 08 [m] Freakinchair Quite new. Hasn't done anything spectacularly noticeable in a game yet. I can't write him off but he has never been a huge worry. 09 [m] Ri'Orius I liked his play in some old game. Were you in animal crossing? 10 [m] Haly I seem to recall him being a little volatile? It's been awhile since he played. Can't be disregarded, might stab in back.

That's interesting. Then would the best thing to do be lay low for now and let others be suspected? A lot of players seem to be outspoken so interjections every now and then is...I'm not sure. Might be more suspicious.

11 [m] MagnumBoy20xx Terrabyte's real life bro I think. They're both young and fall into sufficiently complicated logic traps. Not stupid, but impulsive. 12 [m] flatearthpandas A good all round player 13 [m] EzekelRAGE Everything he says always looks scummy. He did very well all alone (like hidden partner scum) in Gods. Can reason very well when the mood strikes him.. 14 [m] Hobohodo Been away a while. Decent reasoning. 15 [m] Rynam Played briefly with him, he was low participation. Don't know skill level. 16 [m] johnnyquicknives Not sure about this player 17 [m] Never Forever People were glad to see him back, keep an eye on whether they want to lynch him or hug him, maybe we can use it somehow, but no insight (ha!) on his gameplay 18 [-] Seath Prefers role playing to really concentrating on the Mafia game. Will wander around haphazardly regardless of alignment. Basically commonly used by scum teams as an easy target because players get annoyed he isn't very serious, but I'd rather not fall into that. Can sometimes be pressured into making terrible mistakes.

19 [m] Mazre Not a bad player, but can tend to put his own interests above team interests. Can be like a bulldog when he really wants something done. Capable of analyzing well, but needs incentives. 20 [m] Palmer_v1 Threat. He managed to pull off star wars. If he's not on my side I want him dead. Sorry palmer. #1 kill target imo unless the doctor is forced to claim, and maybe still even then. 21 [m] roytheone Seems quiet even when he posts. His time zone difference can make him feel disconnected from a game. Tends to leave his thoughts unsaid until tomorrow then gets killed and regrets it in the dead thread. 22 [m] squidyj I think he's volatile in personality? Good player, but clashes with people. If we avoid being a target there could be a bloody melee among some of these guys. 23 [m] Zippedpinhead Pretty good player but some people find him easy to read when he's scum. If he's just as easy when town, there could be difficulty getting suspicion on him. 24 [m] Kalor Keeps his own counsel so much I don't know whether he can convince anyone he's team...anything. He does talk, and it's well thought, but he gives the impression of not participating somehow. Shrug.

Might be more suspicious. Yes. Unfortunately, remaining a low participation player but offering quality posts on occasion is the current GAFia meta for winning as scum. I'd like to adjust that working so well because it gives us a narrow scope for gameplay - but since it works I'm not going to go against it. I tried behaving differently and became a lynch target, so I'm pulling back into a traditional shell. We don't have spare members for flashy moves. Do ask questions of anyone who does something self contradictory. Do mention if someone does something that doesn't seem in the interests of the group. Do argue with me publicly. Do not make a role claim unless you're better at it than me. This would not be hard. I've never claimed a role and don't know how to fake one lol.
