No, it's not a matter of participating. And I hope, that even if I am wrong, that you'll stick around. None of us have perfect scum-detectors. Participation is fine, it's not really indicative of scum or town in general. Finding scum is fine. Pointing out relatively obvious things like night scum chats or deflecting on nin1000 are things that stand out to me. It just screams "easy" to me. Then what, per say, is "proper" scum-hunting? I made one comment about night scum chats because the game was just getting going and no one was saying much of substance yet. Also, I already defended that post on the basis that I'M NEW. I am not familiar with how that affects the game in a practical sense. If you would like to fill me in on how that generally does affect the scum Day 1, I would appreciate it. Alternatively, just ignore that one post and talk about other things that are important. Also, "deflecting"? All I did was try to prod Nin1000 to talk. He did talk. I dropped it because he has been rather active since, and it is clear that he is in a different time zone from me.

My first game here (after having never played before), I was Mafia, so as much as I feel for you, it doesn't mean much. Day 1 is largely a crapshoot. We have no info from PRs, whomever they are (although I suspect Salva at this point), so it's all gut reads.

How is it interesting? doesn't every setup have 2 town pr's? Well i said we should lynch today, and im gonna stand by that! Vote: Terabyte Misspelling my name? #scumtell. ah, my bad, a thousand apologies. maybe i shouldnt be voting at 2 a.m. if it helps that vote didnt really have any conviction behind it. which is convenient since i now have a real vote to place (hopefully spelled correctly this time) Vote: Bronx-Man the only player who has stuck out to me, which is kinda impressive considering how few posts hes made.

Hmm.
Vote: stanleypalmtree His last post seems really weird to me. He makes a prod vote on tera and then votes Bronx because he jumped out on him, but it seems to me like he is just throwing votes around to try and not be suspicious.
What do you have to say, stanley?

Don't like Stanley's vote on Bronx-Man, seems random and just trying to start a train perhaps?

salva that idea makes no sense to me, how would throwing votes around ever not be suspicious?
but yeah, i probably should have given more reason than that. it was specifically his accusations at nin that sound bs to me. its not a lot to go on, but its more than i have for anyone else.

Great vote count Kawl!
So according to that, it's between Bronx and Ouro. I don't think Ouro is the best choice. If not Bronx, I think that StanleyPalmTree might be a good secondary choice.
I may or may not be around for day end, dunno yet.

I think the best reason to keep him around is that at least he is active and seems to be trying. What do you think of Bronx/Stanley? Bronx has said literally nothing of consequence. It's a little odd, but he's also relatively new to our community, so I can give him the benefit of the doubt. Stanley had the random vote on Terrabyte for no reason, and hasn't retracted it. Of the two, he's the most suspicious, but I honestly think the two I have at the top of my list may trump them. To counter your question - what do you think of SkyOdin and Salva?

SkyOdin: Nothing really more then in my last post about him when I said I think Stanley/Bronx are better targets. He's active and I didn't really mind him asking questions about the night chats and other basic mechanics. Seems like a new player getting their bearings in a small game.
Salva: I liked Salva putting his vote right onto Stanley for his Bronx train vote. Stanley's resulting explanation that throwing votes around is always suspicious is extremely flawed, but I think I get what he means in terms of staying in the spotlight. I don't like Salva's PR speculation/hinting/whatever, can only help scum today. I don't think scum are able to determine the type of game either, so helping them figure it out is a big negative. The speculation does however lead me to want to keep him alive for at least another day, need to see how the night goes and any resulting claims and then go from there.

However, Mafia knows "something," in that if there are two Mafia Goons then we have games 1, 3, B, C. If they have a Roleblocker, it makes things much simpler for them - we are playing either A or 2.

Ah, yeah, you're right. Which is why any information regarding roles will make their deliberations easier.
Looking at the vote count, I noticed two interesting things.
Squidy and Nin voted each other as a response. Bronx did the same to me following my vote on him. Sky and you, Ouro, did similar. What does that say to you, to me it seems like there is some reactionary voting once someone got voted on.

Alright, I just finishd updating my notes and going over everyone's posts again. Here are my current impressions of everyone, in the order your names are listed in the opening post:
Ourobolus: Oddly fixated on getting me lynched, and very interested in Salvapot's possible soft-claim. He is quite active, and I don't really think he is scum, but he is definitly barking up the wrong tree.
Nin1000: Stuck in the wrong time-zone, lonely at the early hours of the day. Most of his posts are prods and attempts to create conversation, apparently at a time when everyone else is asleep and not able to respond much. As a result, hard to get conclusive reads.
Flame_AC: Has mostly been targeting StanlyPalmtree, at first over inactivity, later over other reasons. He was heavily involved in the No Lynch discussion earlier. Either was honestly confused over course of action, honestly trying to push an anti-town No Lynch vote, or just trying to derail discussion over side-issues. So far, his only vote was a random vote on Bronx he made right at the start, but has been fishing around for support for other actions. More to say, but I need to cover the next person for context.
SalvaPot: Despite posting fairly regularly, if not often, his contributions are among the lowest amount of content in this thread so far. He has made a lot of fluff posts and not much else in the first 24 hours. By far, his biggest impact has been in the form of his possible knowledge of more than he should about roles, a potential soft-claim that he has strictly denied. However, that possible soft-claim has completely drowned out all talk about SalvaPot, covering up his relative lack of activity. His main target has been StanlyPalmtree, one of Flame_AC's earlier suggested lynch targets. Immediately afterwards, Flame_AC jumped in to support Salva in calling Stanly fishy.
The sometimes questionable actions and possible collusion of Salva and Flame are giving me a scum reading.
Squidy: Squid is rather active, and has given some reads. He has been putting some pressure on people lately, but mostly by following up leads other people were just arguing about. I'll give him a tentative and weak town read.
Terrabyte: He has made like, two or three posts max. He voted for Ouro, but I don't know why. He is by far the least active player in the game. Either not able to post much or trying to coast under everyone's radar. I have no solid read, but I'm paying attention to him.
StanlyPalmtree: Slept in, made a sleep-deprived vote on Terrabyte, but has since homed in on Bronx as a target. Not the most active player in the game, but he does seem to be trying and seems sincere. Doesn't seem scum yet.
Bronx_Man: Another of the less-active players in the game. His only vote so far is a vote on Flame_AC that I can best guess is an OMGUS vote he made early on. He doesn't like Nin1000 because he thinks Nin is being too eager to lynch someone and driving the game too much, a claim I find questionable when Nin1000 is mostly just talking to himself in the middle of the night. His lack of activity and strange reads are giving me a scum reading, which seems to be a commonly held belief judging by the three votes on him. Reading scum, but I don't want to give an opportunity for someone to turbo him when we have most of a day left in the Day.
Tentative alignment reads summary: Town: Me, Stanly, Squid, and Nin. Scum: Flame, Salva, and Bronx I don't like you: Ouro

Speaking of: Unvote After updating my notes and giving my reads as I did above, I've come to the conclusion that Ouro probably isn't scummy enough for me to vote on him right now. You have been given a reprieve, Ouro.

To your points SkyOdin, you say I'm focused on Stanley, and to an extent, I get your point. However, I'm putting him forward as a better choice than lynching you or Salva or Ouro. Granted, with all my supposed focus on Stanley, I'm voting Bronx as my choice for Day 1.
On your point of supposed collusion between Salva and I, remember, scum hasn't even had a chance to communicate as their chat is only for nights.
I still don't really follow the mylo/lylo/whatever else terminology, my questions were to try and figure out if a strategic no lynch might be beneficial. It is evident now that it does not seem to be, but it's important to determine this early. The way I get it is that if we haven't hit a scum, Day 3 is our last day, I think. But lynch a scum and we're good for awhile.
Now, I really like this post of yours, it has good detail and it makes me more confident in keeping you alive, contrary to Ouro's wish.
Could you answer this, I think it could be an interesting line of thought: "Squidy and Nin voted each other as a response. Bronx did the same to me following my vote on him. Sky and you, Ouro, did similar. What does that say to you, to me it seems like there is some reactionary voting once someone got voted on."

Basically we must lynch scum or we lose.

Since you are so sure its a flawed idea, how about you give me an answer. and dont put words into another players mouth, that will only ever complicate things.

Sky and you, Ouro, did similar. What does that say to you, to me it seems like there is some reactionary voting once someone got voted on." I'm glad you liked my post, since it took some time to put together. I'm not sure if I could do a write-up that thorough for a game any larger than this one. Anyways, I'll address your points: Well, I'd be fine with lynching Salva currently. Stanly wouldn't be my first choice, but I do think that Bronx is better than several other choices. As for the collusion thing, I am aware that the Mafia haven't been able to make plans yet, but they do know who each other are. You are probably right that it is too soon to be talking about collusion on votes. Theoretically, the two Mafia will be trying to not draw too much attention to themselves early on, and would thus avoid any overt signals. Still, people never behave exactly as you would expect, and I tend to find people jumping so quickly to support each other slightly suspicious. For now, I think I will be keeping an eye on you and Salva, but generally Salva is someone I find more suspicious than you by a degree. Now, counter-voting is something common enough to get its own Mafia acronym: OMGUS. Which is apparently shorthand for "Oh my god, you suck!". To be honest, I fell into that trap a bit earlier. Now, this kind of behavior can definitely be a cover to hide someone's real intentions. That is why I prefer more argument behind people's votes. The fact that Bronx hasn't really elaborated on why he counter-voted for you is one reason I am a little suspicious of him. And on reflection... why is squidy's vote still on Nin1000? He made that vote right off the bat over Nin1000's terrible sense of game balance, but he hasn't moved it at all yet. Squidy actually supported Nin1000 when Nin was accused by Bronx_Man of trying to take charge.
