"Confirmed town sucks" Agreed, not sure how else to handle a chief though BTW was fire able to write multiple names or just one at a time? At first, it was multiple. Then I changed it to one (thinking it would be too powerful); I would probably change it back to multiple, or give the entire team the opportunity to write. That seems like a tenuous balance, though. The game maybe seemed a little more like scum would rely on votes to kill most people, not just write names - but that also was taking a very long time, at this pace.

Just have the chief change each day. Make it cycle through the list of players, or give it to the last person to hold it. Cycling through the list of player's would be fine. Giving it to the last doesn't seem good. That was a real punishment, I think, for killing the chief because now the worst person from the day before starts with it.

I think the voting system was interesting, but this particular game (even in this form) is too complicated to introduce it.
I also wouldn't cycle the Chief. Another purpose to the role was for there to be a "structure" to the proceedings (as if you really were in a detective setting) that can break into chaos if someone kills the Chief. Interestingly enough, the RNG set so that Fireblend and the Chief knew each other, and Fireblend could have killed him right away..

I think I would trust players to self-moderate the basic voting passes, but the Death Note meant I had to be there every single time, or else the player is stalled

Damn, I'm late to the convo. I was feeling confident I could make it at least 2 more rounds, but yeah, long term I have no idea how Kira could win. The chips were delicious though.

The system would need multiple mods.

I enjoyed the game, it was pretty funny :)
Ultimately I don't like the voting system, but it was a nice test.

The reason I insisted on the passing being so methodical is because power roles were supposed to act when they held the book (usually, affecting the book in some way), so there would be a lot more to do than look at the same three names and pass it on

Sawneeks really had no group? That was weird, had me worried that Sorian would somehow wriggle away (I considered my win condition changed as soon as Sorian posted that slip. By the end I was just wondering how much I could get away with without him accusing me)

I liked the game, but I know I was not helpful on day 2 (with being out of town)
For all the guff I got day 1, I was trying to break the game. Sometimes an over load of knowledge can break a game (one way or another) and we have to be willing to challenge that on these play tests.

And yeah with no incentives for town to provide names, it's hard to see how scum's strategy could move beyond "hope you don't get lynched for the first half of the game and maaaaaybe risk writing on the book after that". I was planning to suggest maybe Kira had an incomplete "name table" of sorts, and he had to figure out names by investigating people and matching the other part of their names to the result from that investigation. That's where I was going with my fake name + real second name thing.

You fuckers lynched the Scum Cop Day 1. W H Y Also I didn't entirely mean to bus Sawneeks Expected Kawl to pass to Gorlak, Gorlak passes to Sawneeks. Rip CornBro But instead I get confirmed townie status #Xanatos I'm still salty. It's all Kawl's fault. Sawneeks really had no group? That was weird, had me worried that Sorian would somehow wriggle away :( (I considered my win condition changed as soon as Sorian posted that slip. By the end I was just wondering how much I could get away with without him accusing me) Nope! Got the short end of the stick on that one. At first I thought people were BSing about the group names but once more started to chime in I got nervous. If pushed on it I'm not sure if I would have claimed solo and I miiiight have ended up throwing one of you under the bus because we were in a 'group'. >.>; Glad that never happened.

In retrospect, I should have sent Sawneeks a PM saying she had no friends.Hurtful, Kark. ;__; It would have helped to be honest. I had no idea there was a buddy system until people brought it up and even knowing I had 0 people in a group would have been better than being blind. No, actually, the scum should have really known each other's names, too It's so Fire could have killed us if we got out of line, right? #Gambit2016
