Yeah, you're all right that there's no "one shoe fits all" as for how to approach a game. I just feel burned this game because it doesn't seem like anyone on the scum team is even trying yet they're going to win bar a major swing.

One of the major issues this game, besides coasting, is the laser focus on activity. Having coasters but forcing them to come out and play is the best thing Town can do but they aren't, instead opting for a 'hey remember this person is in the game? yeah me neither' and then moving on. How though? Voting one of them? Which one? When do you move your vote? One reads list? There is no counter to it.

I should say, sincerely, aco made the game much more fun by engaging people. Didn't work out in his favor, but I appreciate the effort nonetheless.

There is no 100% method that get coasters to come out but it's better than just letting them coast and not really do much about it. Because you are right, Scum talking more gets them to mess up. Coasting Scum talking more gets them to mess up as well, so it's all about trying to get them to talk.

Is your goal to win or have fun? Mine is to have fun, I approach the game as a logic puzzle to be unraveled and so I'll always prefer a more active player who provides more info to be lynched over an inactive. It gives me more to work with and I think it's more rewarding. If it leads me to lose a game so what I'd rather do it that way because a game with all of scum just coasting isn't really solvable anyways besides just random lynching inactives. And hopefully others like fun more since I can't imagine low posting as scum is fun even when it leads to victory. I'd rather a team of acohrs who loses in 7 days than a coasting team that wins in 4 days. Every time

Town can still win this, it isn't a completely lost cause.
The SK can hit Scum, Town have a 2-shot Name Cop, and as the player count dwindles Town has to start looking at the coasters and they have a high chance to hit Scum.
They aren't completely out just yet.

Then you have to either keep your vote there and wait another forever for another couple of posts, or try to convince others to join you based on nothing. I'd rather spend that time engaging with people who actually want to play.

Damnit stop agreeing with me so much Tim.

He brings more livelihood to a game. I'm curious to see how Crab's proposed method works. I feel like it'll be harder to coast like that when there's no defined time cut off to reach.

I'd rather spend that time engaging with people who actually want to play. That also boils down into activity and how much time a person can commit to a game. As far as I can tell, the Scum Team isn't actively trying to coast but that they are legitimately busy with work, school, or other real life matters that hinder the time they can commit. It's not fun to have to wait 7+ hours for someone to get back compared to the guy who will respond back in 30 seconds or less but unless the game is Live or everyone has a huge amount of free time it's always going to be a byproduct of playing on a forum. It sucks...but that's just how it is.

I do understand the frustration though.
Part of the reason Town lost in PiR was due to 2 inactive Scum players that nobody could get a proper read on because they just weren't there.
But unless a post count rule is enforced I don't know how you could fix it.

To be fair it's counting on the neutral to play to their own win condition so it isn't so crazy.

Also I don't mean for my complaining to be taken personally either by Saw or the inactive players if they read this later. I understand stuff happens, just is unfortunate.

Agree with Natiko and Kawl, I did mean what I said in the game that although Im making mistakes, I want to keep posting despite bringing attention to myself. We are playing this game for fun, hence my obvious attempt to tie the vote.
Also, Town could still win. If it proceeds with them lynching melon and then ty, then they wont

WHO IS SCUM/SK?

Since I've given fairly obvious hints on most of them, the remaining Scum Team is AB, Ynnek, and Terra.
SK I will be keeping a secret though. <3

It's difficult to enforce activity because forum mafia is supposed to be about having fun, and with time zones and real life, it can be lower on the priority list for some.
And sometimes it's just good gameplay. I remember in some games I would get frustrated at being ignored while pursuing a lead, but it might just be scum trying to get me off their team member. Or maybe I was pretending to be frustrated while pursuing a lead I knew wasn't going to go anywhere?
