I'm just kinda fearful that the Hutts would accidentally get him, unless they somehow work with Blargonaut? Anyway here is the clue: by some strange coincidence, our post counts kept matching up! Also, he defended me when everyone wasd voting against me but nobody really picked up on that...they all went after CzarTim lol.

Oh, so I properly read through your role PM, so you were only able to kill once in the game. You used that one-time power to kill me on the very first night on a hunch...I don't know if that was bonkers or genius, but either way I hope we get to be on the same team next time. Can't wait until the other players realize the full impact of your actions!

And don't feel bad Coppanuva, you at least made it to the second day XD. Even though this was my first time playing, I really enjoyed myself and can't wait for the next one. Which will probably be in September or something, but that's ok!

I knew there was a very real chance of death Day 1. I didn't want to end up like Barry and Johnny last game, 1 use role unused before death.

I wasn't 100% sure of anything. Just a hunch. I should have killed Barry though. He's either got the most powerful town role in the game or he's scum. He went from first post dripping with excitement to nothing.

The only "connection" between MattyG's game and mine is that we worked on them together and went in pretty different directions with the roles and stuff in play - so don't expect to see any sort of overlap.

With that said, exactly how much are we giving away here? I would hate for a sore loser to end up here and wreck everyone else's good time by giving away spoilers (so far everyone has been cool).

But I'd love for you guys to know insider info and see how it unfolds, since you can't play anymore.

Seems that they saw you as a threat due to your ability to sway other players. That combined with their confidence that you weren't one of the Undercover Imperials probably made you an easy pick.

I get it then. He knows the Hutts don't know who Absolutebro is. Absolutebro can't reveal himself ,or he'll die, plus he doesn't know what Blarg is. So if the town let's him live the thought is, probably, that the Hutts won't kill him either.

Really really risky, but huge rewards if successful. I wouldn't have done it, personally. Too risky.

@darth Icky Castamere: Gotta give you credit, Mr. Castamere, I read what you've posted here and you solved the shite out of my simple puzzle and noted a couple of possibilities I hadn't even considered; if you had survived, you and me would have made a hell of an effective team

Your Role combined with your understanding of my clues would have been PERFECT; you eliminating one under cover of darkness after I'd identified them under apparent Hutt-ness! Instead, I had to gamble on party-pooper Palmer. You can all see how that went. *stares down at Force ghost feet*


However, I've decided that I think I'll wait until my post-detainment farewell message is up on the morning of Day 3, before I post my first batch of reason points here...

I thought QuantumBro was totally wearing a dead guy's face as a mask, Role-claiming to be a 2nd armourer His claim was what inspired me to use swamped's Role as cover in the first place.

I mean, him claiming that right after exmachina's Role description was made public, it was just so convenient, plus the fact that he initially offered to disperse guns only and not shields... it was super-suspicious to me.

Now that the rest of the crew know what an investigator's official Role description looks like after seeing mine (Force-sensitive Rebel), I wonder what they'll think of his "Rebel Officer" investigator/cop Role-claim. Unless of course, there's multiple types of investigator present.

btw, during Night 1 I investigated TheWorthyEdge, for all the good that did me the following day, him choosing to openly reveal himself and all >.<

...thinking about it some more, I super-duper-should-have accused QuantumBro of being a Hutt, maybe even of being the actual Undercover Imperial, before I left.

I mean, it probably would have cast some unhealthy Daytime attention on QuantumBro, especially unhealthy now that I know he's actually a Rebel; but, it would have been interesting to see if an accusation of him being a Hutt trying to mask himself as an Armourer would have actually *protected* him from being targeted for death during the Night for a while. Because, right now, it >seems< that everyone believes he's a Rebel, so he's got a huge bullseye on his back for sure.

A proper accusation would have erased a bit of that surety...

It would have complemented my detainment beautifully; after it was seen that I in fact *wasn't* the second Undercover Imperial, no one would know who it actually was. So, before I left, if I had accused QuantumBro of actually being a disguised Hutt, it would have possibly planted a seed of doubt in the actual Hutts' minds regarding the validity of his Role-claim/allegiance, i.e, "Maybe Quantum's the REAL Undercover Imperial and he's trying to pull off a disguise stunt like Blargonaut was attempting!?" Therefore, causing the Hutts to hesitate attacking him for a period of time.

So, provided he survived the Daytime heat due to the accusation, it would have bought him a few sort-of-guaranteed Nights alive to hand out his armaments, and my sacrifice would not have been in vain :3 He would have essentially inherited the rewards of my gambling, debt-free.

The accusation could still happen, but I think it would have stuck more if *I* had said it as one of my last posts before detainment.

Damnit, me... but this whole theory's probably full of gaping holes anyway

Swamped : Yeah, Palmer's super-slimy to me. During those last few pages, I was desperately looking for an assist, a partner, a good-cop to my bad, and so I leaked out too many clues that made solving my puzzle dangerously easy (yet they still didn't get it, the frustration was INSANE). Initially, I thought QuantumBro had put together the clues I had placed towards hinting to the others that I was an investigator/detective. Alas, it seemed that he wasn't able to solve it.

Then, after seeing Palmer's posts and his unvote on Page 26, I knew that he deduced that I was a detective, and so I placed all my bets on him to help me somehow convince the others not to detain me. For the next few posts, I saw attention was finally being somewhat diverted away from me, and I thought our unspoken partnership was working and that the unvotes would start to trickle in.

I think one of my most fatal errors was me switching my vote to raindoc, after Palmer had stated that he wanted me to vote inactive Rymuth out. That move of mine most likely caused his suspicions of me to be renewed and so kickstarted his grand betrayal; my desperate-sounding, over-the-top posts afterwards probably didn't help either. Mr. Castamere's right, I overplayed my hand

...or, Palmer's been a Hutt all along, and I was merely outplayed. He discovered that I was a cop and so could've simply been intentionally stringing me along, encouraging me to hinge more and more of my plan's success on him; then, in the end, withdrawing his support, having led me on into the prime position to be slaughtered, egging the hounds on as he stood back. Those last few posts of his before nightfall really sound like fabricated info intended to convince the others to vote against me to finally drive in the nail in my coffin.

Nevertheless, I reached out to him and he repaid my friendly handshake with oily oily greasiness.

Yeah, I didn't want to say this but I was thinking it the entire time - I felt really bad when Palmer 'betrayed' you! I mean, he just said one line (about you wanting to get someone else detained or whatever nonsense) and so many people rallied after that. They didn't even ask for proof. I bet people are going to question hm in the next day phase. Meanwhile, you were there, really imploring everyone and nobody was listening (or refusing to listen?)! It was kinda frustrating. Of course, had I been in the game I would have still voted against you, even knowing your true intentions (detain all the rebels!).

Still - The important thing is that you took the risk. Nothing can be gained without risking something. And of course the entertainment value was through the roof lol.

Okay. I know some things now and you can too.
Long story short, after Palmer died he pmd me offering to reveal his role. I finally accepted his offer. He said a lot, and I said nothing, but I felt guilty keeping it secret, so I told Mattyg.

I won't say everything, but Palmer has a special relationship with Raindoc. He thinks Raindoc is Hutt, and that Blarg targeted him night 1. Blarg, remember when I said you were a genius because of your posting style?

With your failed gambit aside, that was still really spectacular. By posting that way you were just disruptive enough to not be on the hutt radar, but you were also posting far too much to be an actual hutt.

This is also why I actually believed you were the spy, as that would be an easy way to survive. Same would've gone for the SK idea.

My point is had you not screwed by by claiming the role you did, you would've been a force to be reckoned.

Wow, reading the conversation in that thread right now; they give people who openly claim to be Rebel or Neutral a chance to live, only going to the extent of temporarily second-guessing them when these claimants should be the most suspicious of all; but, when someone openly claims to be a Hutt/Imperial, they all immediately bandwagon and don't even doubt the veracity of such a claim. There is only bloodlust.

They say it's such a stupid move to openly admit being the enemy, and I admit it is; yet, they didn't even ask themselves *why* someone would do actually such a thing. Did they even ask themselves, why would someone actually do one of the most stupidest maneuvers possible in this game, if not for some ulterior motive? Shouldn't openly admitting to being the enemy in a game of secrecy be the most unbelievable of claims, and thus the existence of the claimant should deserve more dedicated time for debate over? What happened to keep your friends close and your enemies closer?

All they saw was the surface, the claimed name. As soon as you identify yourself as the enemy, BANG, they spend no time at all trying to read the reasons or between the lines. I gave them all the hints, all the reasons to keep me around a while longer, and practically lit a landing strip to the fact that my role claim was fake and that I was concealing something behind it. But no, just bloodlust.

Granted, the major four who've openly claimed to be Rebels (TWE, Zubz, QuantumBro, Setre) ARE actually Rebels; and, I really botched my self-defense in those last few pages, but still... it's also strange that the Hutts haven't taken these four out immediately either. It's as if claiming to be friendly strikes the most doubt in people's hearts, but claiming to be unfriendly causes an immediate lash-out.

...I sound really, really dumb right now, don't I. I'm going to keep this post up anyway as a monument to my dumb. X(

People seem to be jumping on QB really fast. The one reason I would believe his story is that a thief would obviously attack him after Day 2 since that is when he revealed his role as a guy with items, and he implied he was going to use a shield for himself. At this point, the thief has no other potential targets. I have no idea why people are so leery of his story. Of course, those people might not Rebel aligned...it's a convenient way to detain someone. Wonder what AbsolutBro is going to do about this. Theoretically he should try to vote to detain QB.

omg OceanicAir that is a genius Role-claim if it's a fake one.

"Paranoid Town", carries a shield/protection as a perk. Openly claim it when the time is right so as to cause the enemy to hesitate attacking you.
Could be especially effective if claimed while being a Vigilante/retaliator, use it as bait for a Strongman/shield-breaker enemy Role into attacking.

Simple wording, very believable, there could be more to using this. I'm totally storing this in my book of faces.

Stars Wars game is fun because it's silly, but that'll run out in the end-game when town romp to a crushing defeat; they're simply all over the place at the moment. Animal Crossing game is playing a little more classic, and will get more and more tense in the run-up to the end-game as a result. The difference doesn't have anything to do with set-up design; I personally made sure both your set-ups should be roughly equal. It's mostly just down to the player base.

I definitely believed my idea about Makai. If makai isn't scum, then it's very unfortunate that they took the duel bait.

Blargonaut, Day 2 made me THIS close to typing a resignation letter after reading all of the "I'm not sure how I feel about Barrylocke. He's not as active as he was and it's strange" posts when everyone said their suspicions. I had decided to actually wake up and play (which I feel I did) but just looking at all the Day 2 crazy made me think how the hell I could hope to get active based on that. To be frank, my strategy reading those days was to blank out on your posts because it was just draining going through it all. I seriously had a PM to MattyG all typed up, I just had to click submit message.

The only reason I didn't was because I felt like me giving up would look like a pro-town play and make me seem less suspicious, so the Mafia would feel free to kill my replacement. So I looked one more time and built my ejawa suspicions there.

Blargonaut. I do wonder just how many people you really thought was going to catch on to what you were doing when you were alive. I can only speak for me, but going through with your posts was like...Imagine if a person had an awesome point they wanted to make about some subject, but they had a speech impediment that made them difficult to understand. A lot of people will unfortunately not give this persons thoughts any weight. Now for me at least, I've been in situations like this in real life and I still try my hardest to understand what they're saying, as they can't help the impediment.

But now imagine that instead of it being something that they couldn't help, it was something that was done by choice. Regardless of the reasons, I'm trying to balance my attention among other people in this conversation, and I know this person can speak in a clearer way than they are, but they aren't...because reasons. That was kind of how I was handling your posts on Day 1 and 2 when reading through. I trusted you at first because your posting style seemed too "look at me" to be from mafia at the time. But at the same time, there was no way I was going to be the one to figure out your clues you'd slid into your posts.

When there's over a dozen and a half other people to watch, observe, and decipher reasons from, and only X amount of time to spend playing the game (time that was already less there due to personal stuff, as my own first two days showed), I had to make triage decisions on what to focus my energy on. The one poster who's posts required a ton of effort just to even decipher it, especially if I mostly thought they were a townie already, was not going to be high on that list.

I'm not saying how you played was bad. From a readers perspective it definitely added a lot of entertainment, and there was a reason for most of it. But I can at least say that this is why I personally didn't find the answers, and I wouldn't be surprised if a similar reason was there for at least a couple of members of the Star Wars Mafia crew.

It really is a shame that no one from Animal Crossing Mafia has had much to say about their game. I haven't even been paying attention to it since I couldn't even fully get a grip on my own game.

It's difficult to judge the AC game right now because they're pedalling. I think both teams are actually playing quite well; the mafia are very non-obtrusive without appearing to be non-obstrusive, and town posts are generally detailed enough without enough thought they're hard to mimic (but also hard to write) which slows both teams down. I think at this rate it will have a more tense end-game than the Star Wars mafia, given that the town there mostly suspects their own power roles.

Yeah I tried to drop a note of that in the thread, in case anyone felt like the game was going nowhere.
I think the active players in AC are playing very well on all sides, and it's interesting to watch (from my perspective) how all the strings of the game are gradually tightening as people discuss and discover.

It really illustrates why, if you're town in these games, the most powerful thing you can do is talk.

In my very limited exposure to online mafia I've learnt that people's behaviors and tone really affect the gameplay. Imagine if you had SW people playing the AC setup. Imagine Blargonaut as one of the roommates, or even a town gossip. Just imagine that chaos XD

I guess I should probably explain what's going on;

One of the Hutt roles allows them to send messages of 20 words or 140 characters. People actually have been getting messages, and traube's did say that bit about Blarg. The purpose of the role is to mislead and screw with the Rebels, which is why I'm allowing them to forge Blarg's name. It's up to the Rebels to realize that it isn't trustworthy information.

I think the Rebels are on the right track right now actually, and if they continue in that direction they may have a mafia lynch today.

I also realized over the night phase something that probably would have helped out the town... as the light sleeper, hearing mafia targeted overnight isn't redundant like we were thinking because of the situation where the light sleeper hears activity overnight and nobody dies. You'd know there was an attempted murder in your area that ultimately failed. So, yeah, stealth killer basically confirmed.

Yes, with no offence to last game's mafia (sorry, LoC), they didn't play brilliantly all the time. Because they didn't plan in advance and keep track of their own lies, they often tripped themselves up - that's how LoC went out. pants got unlucky with a Karkador snipe, LoC tripped himself up, RNH made himself look very shady all game long, and poor old traube, who actually played very well, just got left in a very difficult situation and held out as best he could.

Both mafia are playing very well in these two games. The only flaw I think is sometimes they bandwagon too much. If I was mafia when it was hobo vs. Salva, for example, I'd have voted hobo; then argued later that if mafia lost on a very close draw, I couldn't possibly have been mafia as all the mafia would have swung the other way. As it is, as soon as one mafia falls, the others will stand out quite a lot as people will realise they almost always voted the same way. The voting patterns for these two games will catch the mafia out, I think - especially in the Animal Crossing game. Star Wars will be harder because the town there are crazy voters.

Launch, you're on the right track with the silent killer. It's a pity you figured it out the night you got killed

The silent killer...kills silently, and the roles set up to hear activity around them at night? They won't hear them.

But the role is a bit of a logic game, and what happened with Tucah does say something, even though it's a contradiction to the 'rule' of the role. I had to stop myself from just explaining the answer when I was clarifying the role for the light sleepers.

The two sleepers are there to check that half of the board. Most of the HHA is on the other half, but that silent killer is with them - and the HHA got caught with their pants down, thinking that their silent killer was invisible - but in creating a paradox, they made the killer visible in some way.

Damn I was going to try to figure out which of the regular townies it was that could be this silent killer, but Haly, RNH, and Ouro all voted for Salva too. It's probably RNH, though, just from a guess based on a range restriction and that he's shared between the two light sleepers. It's actually kind of mean how you set up the commuters in that area.

/m218 Well he actually had 2 win conditions (outlive the Armourers or cause an item to be given to the wrong person by switching 3 times). I forgot about that, and he asked me if Quantum was the last Armourer when the day already started. So I figured instead of disrupting the day by pulling someone in the middle of it, I'd give him one last chance to share his info with everyone (because his role is also partially an info gathering role, and he didn't know Quantum was going to die) and announce the win at the end of the day.

So no, this isn't how it was planned, but it's actually turned out more interesting than it was planned and not everyone even believes him so it's not really an issue.

Also, yeah, I do have a little bit of flavor text that I'm typing up that will have a reason for waiting until the night phase. It involves one of Johnny's smuggler buddies and a certain Corellian Freighter.

So the AC thread has gotten real quiet... I don't think Hobo is coming back from this one, but they're probably discussing how to best proceed to maximize damage to the town and minimize it for themselves.

I predict they're going to go after EzekelRAGE during the night phase. Mazre blew the lid off of this, but it would be really short-sighted to go after him considering he's only made like 5 posts since the day phase started. Ezekel is more dangerous because he's more talkative and he's on the right track of thinking.

Well, I'm honestly trying to figure out whether he's saying there's only three because there's only one <redacted> or four; in truth, it leaves the number very open to interpretation, like you said. But, either way, that effects how people view the results - Salva is basically saying that the number of total mafia is obvious from the role PM description, which isn't true.

I've asked Kark a few questions and he's answered most of them, but I think he wants to keep a shroud of mystery over what's coming up just to keep things interesting; and it really is funner that way anyway.

So far, I know that you and Darryl were mafia, I'm 90% on RobotNinjaHornets being your stealth killer, and I think nin1000 was your sleeper dude. He hasn't told me what all your abilities were yet, though, so I was waiting to see what would happen when you got evicted.

Okay then, so if it makes you feel better we saw you as a threat but it as more due to how many theories you threw out coupled with you being active. We were worried that when we evicted you the players would look back through your posts looking at your theories as they could think you were getting close to the truth, which to be honest sometimes you were! You were at the top of our 'NEEDS TO BE EVICTED!!!!' list from early on, but it was far to risky to take you out. We took you out night 4 as we felt if I was to have any chance of getting through Day 5 then we needed you gone as you were an active player who kept discussion going and were suspicious of me, expected you to rally on me. Also in night 4 me aside you pointed very few (if any?) fingers at the rest of the HHA. It felt the safest time to take you out.

Also your fate was tied to mine. Had you still been alive going in to the night were the HHA could double evict you were going to be one of our targets. This had been decided from pretty early on when we began to plan throwing me under the bus, we knew from early on it would have to happen.

Yeah, it never even occurred to me till I read this thread that I came across as being a bit to knowledgable of the 'older nephew'. Just felt that I needed to have some plausible duality to the roll if I was going to have any chance of getting by. When planing out my 'targets' I tried to think who I would logically target if that had been my role, whilst also having to consider the activity the light sleepers detected. Night 4 had been my sticking point, as I lost half the map due to the light sleepers and didn't really feel like I would target anyone after having almost being killed. If it was going to be anyone it was the roomies and then I would have done them 3 nights in a row, felt a bit to suspect, hence I went for my self as some half arsed self preservation play. Completely missed the fact that as I had been investigated I had actually been gotten to. Ran it through the Mafia thread and got an okay, about 10 minutes after posting someone spotted the contradiction. Was so annoyed haha.

In the long run it didn't change our plans to much, we were expecting me to go out today and it was beneficial due to the dual evict. But for a brief 45 minutes or so it looked like I may have just survived one more day.

It didn't make sense anyway if what Kark said was true about the player being in the light sleeper/Tucah range, since you were in contact with him as of the first night; that didn't give you enough time to contact the fourth man.

It has to be Ouro or RNH, but I'm more convinced it's RNH because of the logic trap people are inclined to believe. If you guys hadn't targeted Tucah and instead one of the commuters had been voted out by us, we wouldn't have realized anything was going on - one light sleeper would keep reporting activity, the other nothing, it can't possibly be RNH right?

Anyway, I'll let you keep it a mystery for now. I'm honestly surprised that franconp is mafia, the way he revealed your role was masterfully inconspicuous.

Yeah Fran outing me was a plan we go quite early on, prett much as soon as we realised that Razmos was a gossip. We knew that once Mazre putted himself as a gossip and the fact that I bridged the groups was brought up my time was limited. So we were trying to make sure it didn't come off as Mafia throwing me under the bus on purpose. The outcome of day 4 worked to our favour as it made me seem a far more logical choice to Investigste. Early on we felt that really someone in collum A is what he should have done, but then I gained enough traction and seemed suspicious.

There are only a few minor things I see they could pick at, but then I only see them because I'm dead and I know the truth. :s For example, Darryl becoming suddenly much more active following night 4; franconp going back on what he said about not sharing who was investigating, even though he said he would investigate you the day before. They don't mean much without context, though, which I have... I hope the town realizes what's going on.

As far as "what can be revealed here", I think we've been winging it without any hard rules (other than, this place is 'secret', and nothing discussed here can spill out into the game discussion).

The worst case scenario is that a vindictive player spills info from here and ruins several weeks of build-up and gaming for other players. That fear makes me want to keep the secrets locked down, though I haven't seen a player make me afraid of that yet.

The best case scenario is that eliminated players can come here and still have a place to stay active in the little community we're building, while being able to talk about the games without spoiling it for others. Otherwise, you only got to participate for a little while.

I think secrets should be allowed, but let's make it fun. I'm gonna give hints, but I'll leave it to Hobohodo or other players to tell their stories.

My goal was to eliminate volatility. On day 1, the main targets were aggressive interrogators. On day 2, a bunch of people claimed power roles, so they became our targets from then on. Enemy #1 was QuantumBro - the prospect of guns in the hands of unknown players really freaked me out, which is why I made an impassioned case for distributing shields instead. We didn't want another sure-fire like Lord of Castamere to get his hands on one. He had a shield, so we had to wait an extra turn to axe him.

Makai Crab and I spent quite a bit of time balancing the roles, and two armourers isn't as unbalanced as it seems, especially not with a Hutt thief and a smuggler switching people about.

I actually think the Hutts still have a chance to win it, they just have to play incredibly safe. I have a feeling another one of them will be gone after the voting tomorrow though...

Also, be prepared for a crazy night tonight folks. The morning outta be interesting.

So I wanted to tell you guys about something I had planned but am probably not going to do anymore;

Remember the suited man that Crab had written about in his closing post of the last game? The one who spoke in Italian? Originally, I had wanted to plant all these puzzles and cryptic clues in each day and night post hinting at his return, all culminating in the reveal that he is some kind of Bioshock Infinite-y dimension jumping entity that sets up these scenarios for his own amusement. It was just going to be a dumb little side thing to get people back in and discussing the thread each day, in case things died down. I ended up not doing it because a) it sounded a bit dumb when I thought more about it and b) I was worried that people would be distracted by it. I'd still like to try something like it at some point though, just make some through line to connect all the mafia games, some kind of GAF Mafia mythos.

I can only say, I know you guys didn't get Haly since he was out of town for the night. EzekelRAGE would be a good target, I think you guys wouldn't want to get rid of the more talkative people now more than ever. Mazre blew the lid off of this whole thing, he's probably a high value target. From a strategic standpoint, I'm not sure who else you guys would get a huge advantage killing off. The light sleepers are basically pointless to kill as long as they're on the fence on whether or not a stealth killer exists. The gossips are pretty inconsequential now that you're dead. So, yeah, I'm not sure who else you guys might've gone after.

I keep refreshing to see if the update goes through. ~_~

I haven't really read back through the HHA chat yet, but it seems to me like franco was intending to say RNH was an ordinary villager anyway (even before tomakasatnav came out with his thing)

What I wanna know is why they targeted Kalor. They probably want to keep Tom around as insurance, but Kalor provided more confusion.

There's something you can deduce from them having removed Mazre instead of Razmos. I wonder if they'll figure it out.

Oh, ok, then yeah.

I feel like killing Kalor was redundant. He still has Haly causing activity every other night, so it provides the mafia with cover to carry out actions in that territory. On the other hand, if they want to kill Haly in the following night phase when he's actually home, this will stop them from repeating the same mistake from Night 1 - creating that absence of noise when RNH kills him. The risk increases if the town manages to eliminate a mafia member in this day phase, because the less mafia there are the more the town will start looking in the immediate vicinity of the players dying in the upper left corner of the map. As it stands, no one is really convinced there's a stealth killer at all.

I think town may actually go through with two evictions today. This should be great.

Reason for mentioning my gossip chat is that I left a brain dump over the night phase summing up my thoughts on the state of the game. Would be much simpler to link it here than try to repost it all, and there was a lot. I was pretty much certain that after calling out Hobo I'd be getting the axe, and at that point at worst I might notify the mafia of a hole in their story that they missed but was more likely to be giving kingkitty whatever help I could in my absence.

I thought the idea of killing me to hide the fact that Franconp didn't investigate RNH seemed likely as people seemed to trust me a lot more over Tomas, so they could push doubt on him slightly easier. Thankyfully Haly remembered the exchange between me and Toma to prove he had to be a light sleeper. If I was alive I would be pushing for the roomies and someone else as I trust RNH.

Yeah some of my speculation was wrong but some of it was right as well. Knew franconp was too good to be true, glad that Ultron seems on the case even though he'll be gone today if he succeeds. That'll leave the town likely with 10 villagers at the start of day 7 and only 2 HHA remaining meaning they have a little wiggle room left.

Yeah most of your speculation was on the money, it was mainly the looking for clues to our secret partner during Day 3 that I was referring to. But then it is what people have also considered in the main thread and it does make the most sense so can hardly blame you for that.

Also you inviting me Day 1 sat of paranoia big time. When I didn't know about other gossips I was sending messages to Kark to find out all sorts like if I was considered to be in your house at night by talking to you or if something bad could happen if I spoke to you like I would get recruited into some weird neutral faction. It put me on edge.

Gotta hand it to Darryl, he's played a pretty magnificent game. Even on my way out I was leaning towards him being town. He's got established cred of not trusting the roomies, has been deflecting suspicion onto other townies, has participated just enough not to be the lowest hanging fruit, and is now playing some kind of victim card about being ignored.

Meanwhile we have kingkitty and ER building a wall of non-sense with a back and forth argument. kitty is killing me atm, seemed so intent on roomie evict the night before, now he's completely off target and repeating himself in half his posts. Hope Time/Ultron/someone steps up and cools things down while offering some leadership.

So the HHA are bringing up a point in there chat about Ezekel and Squidy as replacements in that they can kind of get away with anything as everyone just assumes they must be ordinary villager. After all you would think that someone who got an interesting roll would be active, or at the very least check in on the game regularly even if they don't lead discussion. Seeing as them guys are leading a lot of the disussion today it was something I found quite interesting to think about as when you read through the main thread it does feel like there is an assumed innocence about them.

As for the substitutions, I see what you guys mean, but I think the game has been a lot better with them around than not. Even if they're presumed innocent, at least they're currently steered in the wrong direction - he's playing like a mafia player who is taking charge of the discussion. If Ezekel succeeds in getting an innocent evicted, I think the suspicion will turn towards him.

One of them is also power role that hasn't been talked about, too.

Yeah there are pros and cons to each side, and the Mafia would be walking towards victory if you had mod killed the inactives so far, so it makes sense. A power role however is very interesting, was not expecting one of those!

I felt that may be the issue with the death posts, but didn't see much point in just saying 'good game all' when the general Mafia thread has been serving that goal. Hence I decided to have so,e fun with it, but ahh well.

They're at the juncture where the town is dwindling down to very low numbers. If they leave Haly around for night 8, something could happen where they need to kill off another town for an entirely different reason; so, they won't be able to kill him in night 9, prolonging the game for them and raising the risk that one of them will be vote-killed. Keeping Haly around for too long is a mistake for them.

Mazre did I mistype some of your info? I kinda quickly summarized, my bad.

Anyways, that wall of nonsense between me and Ezekel was just me trying to make some kind of argument for my innocence. But I wasted too much energy on that, I was being a little dumb. I never experienced being on the cusp of eviction in forum mafia before, so that was interesting. Hopefully I'll try a different tact when I'm in the same situation in a future game. Being wrongfully accused made me a little too salty with Ezekel, but ah well, it is what it is.

On the topic of roomies, I did try later in the game to steer some of the conversation towards evicting the roomies next phase. It would have been awesome if we were able to evict roomies on Day 6 along with Ouro. But at least we got the latter, right? That's still a win.

I don't think I made a concrete promise that I'd push for roomies evictions for Day 6 in Mazre's gossip chat. I suppose it depended on how Day 6 went, and in that phase Ourobolus was getting heat. He was also a suspect to me, so I thought that was more realistic option, instead of trying to argue for the eviction of three people.

Anyways, it was fun while it lasted. Ouro you almost got us.

I've been watching you HHA guys panic that the game is stacked against you. Obviously, I tried to design a game that gave both sides a fair shake at winning, and i think it has mostly been fair, as I've watched the game unfold...but gauging the element of "how will a human play this game" is incredibly unpredictable.

To be fair, I don't truly know if it is a balanced game. It's hard to tell with any mafia setup, and this is the first time I've ever run a specialized game like this. Even one shift in a particular rule can change things tremendously. I have had a fair amount of moments where something unexpected happens, and I've thought "Wow, if only I had thought of making the rule this way, instead of that". But there's no way I can alter the rules of the game once it's going. So I have to watch this creation run its course, sometimes just as surprised and anguished as the players in the game.

For what it's worth, I think I ended up making something that takes a rather skilled mafia to play - and you and the other HHA were doing a great job...until Darryl showed up. I actually thought that Darryl would make HHA more powerful, since he was being a pretty crafty player on his own. But folding him into the HHA seemed to throw you guys off your game.

Well, that, and when you killed the player in the light sleeper's range, causing tomakasatnav to wonder wtf was going on.

I understand what Kark is saying, but I wouldn't put too much weight in roles and rules. Sure, they are there and should have a certain amount of balance, and from what I've seen Kark has done a remarkable job of it. But the key thing to remember is that mafia is a game based not only around rules and roles, but also around the players who play those roles. I'm not sure what effect Darryl ultimately had on the mafia as a whole since I'm not privy to the private chats, but you did a poor job of defending yourself Ouro. After a while, you gave up and tried to game the rules at the end - frankly, you could have done more. I actually believed you were innocent up until the end, but I kept thinking to myself why you weren't doing more to defend yourself. Ultimately, especially because you were mafia, you could have been more convincing. They didn't catch you in some lie, they just pushed you until you stopped arguing.

Even though Hobo got caught at the end, he almost got away with surviving at least another night just because he managed to trick the village into thinking he had some value without being on the nose with it. It was only when they caught him in something that he couldn't go back on that he gave up. Darryl has been playing an impressive game, in so much that no one suspects him and I didn't suspect him until I was dead and I realized all this shit that was going on.

I really don't want you to take this the wrong way, it's easier to be an observer than actually play and I've had my fair share of fuck ups through this game, but it's something to learn from is what I'm ultimately getting at and I don't think it was Kark's fault.

One rule I wish I had changed a bit is, when the The Younger Nephew got killed, I think it would have been better if, rather than just two night evictions, each surviving mafia member got an eviction that night. It would have given some more functional incentive to find the lost partner, and they could have had THREE kills in one night, which would have helped them a bit more in this particular scenario....but it could also give them only one kill at night, if they wait too long to throw the little kid under the bus.

Yes, the purpose of that role was for the Nook family to sacrifice a little kid for their goals

Also - Launch - I was being purposefully quiet. I had no defense because of the gossip chat and squidy going in hard on me. The more I posted, the more I had to deal with people picking apart the already flimsy position I had. Squidy was on me no matter what I said. I made do with what I had, dude : P

Anyway, Kark - yeah. Tucah's death was a fluke. No idea about the light sleeper at the time. That stuff happens and it's no fault of the rules. Darryl did throw a wrench into things, but he's been really good at deflecting when he needs to. Mafia has to adapt too, you know.

So really, the only things that may need to be taken into account next time, if you think they might be valid:
- the gossips were a great idea. I love the idea of the role and the positioning they had. But in each one, there was an HHA. two, in one actually. Since a lot of this game is recognizing patterns and the point of the roles, sometimes a fake out may be a good idea. I think we were handling it ok here and there, but just a thought.
- the replacements. I know you don't really have control over it, and I have no idea what the alternative is, but when they come back they are typically automatically presumed to be town, because why would mafia go idle?

Again, I think the game was fantastic and I love the grid stuff you did. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, the thing I was going for with the gossips was to try to add a private chat to the game for the town, like the mafia has, but it's unreliable. Maybe the enemy has ears in the chat...but if you can get rid of the ears, then it becomes a very powerful tool for the town. I toyed with the idea of having mafia in the chats, and I toyed with the idea of having them all eventually overlap together, but with the caveat that some players would be the "bridge" that have to pass on information to the other chats. What happens if one of those players is a traitor? It's almost like a mini-mafia game within the larger game....or so it was supposed to be.

The gossips could have gone a lot of different ways. I was surprised that they were all pretty much out by the second day...I envisioned them more as a "secret network" type of thing, but the secret got out really early. I put two HHA in one because I thought it would be interesting if the lost partner would try to communicate with the HHA player in the secret chat. If Darryl straight-up said to Hobohodo "hey man, I'm lost", and Hobohodo could have been like "Ohhhhh...", maybe they'd slip it right past Razmos. Or maybe Razmos would catch on, but they'd figure out a way to frame him? The thing I didn't expect is that Darryl played a totally weird, rogue game and even told you guys he didn't want to be found!

This is an unfortunate thing that we have to solve for all mafia games going forward. We were lucky in the first game that it was a minimal issue. While I disagree that replaced player is necessarily Town, it's an awkward situation to explain in any case. Actually, Ouro, you replaced one of the mafia players! He backed out after getting the role PM, because he had never played before, and it seemed very overwhelming to him. Other players got replaced, even though they kept promising they'd be more active. Others just straight-up disappeared.

It's a tricky problem to fix. I'm not sure I know what the best solution is, but I think we're going to have to screen players a little bit before we set up future games.
