My paintings have gotten better and now do not bring great shame. Only small shame. Drawing is still hard.

Ugh, greater shame when I show them, but okay. :/ abstracts because I do some landscape and still life work too but those are still much more rough and I like shaping and experimenting and creating impressions more, I think. don't laugh the colors aren't perfect in the pictures. I need better lighting or to learn how to photograph my paintings.

Splinter is new fave. This one's in my office because it represents my mental state. It was wet for days and I kept shaping and encouraging the swirls and it was very meditative. I hate the corner, though.

They look pretty cool. Doesn't happen to be my exact preference inside Modern Art, but I can appreciate it. How do you make them? Do you have an idea beforehand or do you just go with the flow of whatever comes to you mind while painting?

Uh, the swirly paintings are pours - paint thinned out to different densities to blend and merge in interesting ways. I can encourage those - and if start to go bad, I wipe the canvas and start over, but the wasted paint hurts me - but there's more to do in terms of planning colors and placement and then hoping for the best. I use paint knives to do some directed flow and blending, or I'll add paint to specific parts to adjust or change. I like the movement in those. The other one, I had some specific ideas about movement and tension that I wanted to explore. It's very rough but I don't feel that I messed it up, so that's huge for me. I don't love it, but I wanted to work with contrast to evoke something about boundaries so I didn't do much blending but tried to create some very specific zones. I mess up a lot. I am not very good. But I am practicing and that feels pretty awesome. There are so many things I want to be able to do and can't yet - I want to do more with shadow, with hard geometric shapes, to paint something that looks more alive, but I think I need to work more on my drawing first. It's hard to make the time. thank you for the support and encouragement.
