I was thinking about the game earlier and I realized that killing someone could be viable. For a while I was thinking that killing was something to avoid but it could be essential to eliminating potential mafia later on. It would certainly make it easier to win without any mafia being on the team. Though the downside is that if we kill town then that has a huge impact due to the small player base.

He's already announced his intention to. Hm, it kinda feels like you're chattering to feign the illusion of inquisitiveness right now... well sorry that you "feel" that way but atm i am only trying to "catch up" a bit. And no need for that scrafty i just could have not said a thing until the game started but i did.

He's saying he will be choosing the "Ally" option in his first decision:
"Kalor & Sorian versus Retro"
What about you Sorian.Areyou going to ally aswell ? I was the first post (I think, might have been Scrafty) and I made my intention quite clear that I was going to choose Ally, yes. I'd rather put complete trust in the other two people of my tripod and pick up the pieces from there as I can't die from a wrong choice at the first hurdle.

Do keep in mind that the neutrals are just as important to town's win condition as anything else. This is one of the few times where I can point to the neutral in a game and say that person is 100% pro town. They obviously don't want each other to escape but if they both get out then we only have to add one town member to that list and we win.

But they don't care about the town/mafia squabble, they just want to get out without the other one. If that means that they take a mafia over the other neutral, that's a town loss and a neutral win. If they were 100% pro-town that wouldn't be a valid situation

Scrafty's working hard to keep the conversation going, so that's pretty pro-town. You are not even commenting the right way. I dont know what to make out of it. For now you are a null read I'm sorry if I'm being dense, but how can someone not comment "the right way" Like, what does that mean?

You guys should figure out between each other how you're going to vote. Last thing you want is to go into the voting phase completely in the dark.

The one case where they are screwing over their neutral buddy is true but in a case where they are in direct opposition at the end where one of them could get to 9, it's obvious they will both betray each other, they have to. What you are saying is them talking at other groups and hoping the people there listen, meh, who cares what someone else is saying to my current group? It's noise. Their utility to me is that they are a body that can fill up the 3 and doesn't make me lose. As far as I am concerned, there are 6 people in this game who can walk through that door and I win. That makes neutral=town as far as I am concerned.

You guys should figure out between each other how you're going to vote. Last thing you want is to go into the voting phase completely in the dark. How I vote right now is based entirely on how I think you're going to vote. It won't be affected by nin. If he votes betray, it doesn't matter what I voted, that's what's going through. Now how I think you're going to vote? Honestly, I appreciate your hesitance at people immediately saying they were going to vote ally, so I guess I trust you for that. Plus I feel like you betraying at this point, no matter your alignment, would just make things very hard for you down the line so that seems unlikely. Nin, what are your thoughts? But they don't care about the town/mafia squabble, they just want to get out without the other one. If that means that they take a mafia over the other neutral, that's a town loss and a neutral win. What is it that makes you insecure scrafty?

What is it that makes you insecure scrafty? Suspicion and insecurity are two very different things. You showed up very late, made strange nonsensical accusations and don't seem very keen on making pre-game reads. It's hard not to be suspicious, in all honesty. But seeing as we're a mere 20 minutes away from judgment time, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you really are just scrambling to catch up and made some hasty mistakes. So I'll vote Ally tonight. See to it that my trust is not misplaced.

Tbh I was expecting that, it's one of those things like the first round of The Resistance. Anything else would be dumb.
I've been thinking about something - mafia would be fine with just all allies all the time? If no-one ever betrays, then mafia get their win condition. I imagine the first betrayal will likely come from the neutrals, as they'll want to get ahead of the other neutral to get their win condition.
Hm. I'll need to think more about this.

I wasn't expecting that.
I'm not going to say my vote because it would be premature to say it straight away today. At this point we need to think about if we suspect the person/group we are up against since we don't want mafia reaching 7 points this early. Scum are in a great position right now so everyone allying again would be detrimental to town. As a result of that I'm already suspicious of Sorian since he has been quick to say he would vote ally twice now.

Pretty much correct, if everyone just all kept allying then we would all get to 9 at the same time which is only a win for scum.

In that case - I'm wondering if there are downsides (for either side) to the neutrals revealing themselves. I just wanted to check mafia can't talk first so that they can't coordinate a neutral claim.

Either side being town and neutral
Main downside for neutral I can think of - they then can't try to convince town that the other is mafia, which is probably their easiest play Can't think of much for town this second, I guess it might mean that it would change the results of some ally/betray decisions, but I can't think of what situation that would occur in. I'm also having trouble thinking of how it would affect how mafia play.

I'm also having trouble thinking of how it would affect how mafia play. They probably won't do that because of the bolded because at that point, a neutral winning or losing will just come down to a popularity contest and the luck/circumstances of who they draw in match-ups. I don't think there is any downside of it to town, it's two people that could theoretically confirm each other so that means we'd only have to read 7 people instead of 9.
