So, just because we don't hate each other enough yet, lets post our GOTY lists in this thread! After a couple of weeks, I will probably collect all the lists and determine an official, indisputable, completely meaningless Gafia GOTY! That game will have the honor to be the new official associated game of the gafia steam group! Unless it is not available on steam of course, then fuck it! I will even make an official Gafia curator list in the steam group based on the results!.....probably.....maybe.......probably not. The rules: -You can list up to 10 games ranked from 1 to 10. Those 10 games will receive a point value going from 10 to 1. You can also list as many honorable mentions if you like, and while those will not receive any points, they may be used as tie breakers. -Contrary to the normal GAF goty, I will accept every game you played in 2015. You played super mario bros for the first time this year? Feel free to put it on the list! Your favorite game is a piece of DLC? No problem! I am easy like that! -You can put the reasoning for your choices in your list if you want to, I may even use one of your quotes in the curator list I am never going to make! but it is not mandatory. -Please use Bold and Underline to make the name of the games stand out. Example list: 1. Shooting El topo 3
Because fuck el topo. Also better then the disappointing shooting el topo 2 2. Raise your own owl!Because owl's are awesome! 3. Spider splatterBecause the only good spider is a dead spider. Honorable mentions: Chucklefuckers: the revenge, A dance with Draco, Drunk simulator 2015

1. Undertale My love for Undertale is well documented. Amazing music, fantastic characters. I might have cried at the end. I mean, what? Shut up.
2. King's Quest 2015 Amazing graphics, and a fantastic return to form. Makes even the best Telltale game look awful. It would have been a bigger competitor to Undertale if more than two episodes had come out this year.
3. Super Mario Maker An infinite supply of new Mario Levels? Yes, please. Check out CzarTim's levels. They're awesome.
4. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Amazing open world game. The story wasn't what I wanted it to be, but the gameplay is amazing.
5. Fallout 4 I'm going to get lynched for having this so far down the list, but it didn't grab me. I'm supposed to be going on this epic quest, but all I really wanted to do was decorate my house.
6-10. Destiny I spent waaaaay too much time playing Destiny this year, until I finally pulled away shortly after Taken King. But I'm sure I'll be back for the next expansion.

I'd HATE to lose my PS4 character, but I would be so happy to switch to PC as the platform.

1. Bloodborne + DLC if I can count both at once. Spectacular gameplay with incredible music, art style, story, and boss design make this my GOTY.
2. Undertale I'm not crying you're crying.
3. Metal Gear Solid This game has held up really well over the years. Hopefully going to start MGS 2 soon but I have high hopes for the rest of the series considering how amazing the first one is.
4. Witcher 3 It scratched an RPG itch I didn't know I had. Still don't have the DLC though. :(
5. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Not a big fan of the BioWare combat system but the writing makes up for it. If you aren't spoiled on the game's plot I highly recommend playing it.
6. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D Why I put this off for so long I will never know but MM is an A+ Zelda game and the 3DS version cleans things up really nicely.
7. Rocket League Wow! Great shot!
8. Destiny: The Taken King Still isn't the game I hoped it would be but it's still a damn good shoot-bang.
9. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night something something What is a man? something something
10. Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin I really should play Dark Souls 1, also fuck Dragon Aerie.
Honorable Mentions: Star Wars Battlefront ( PS4 ), Super Mario Maker, Splatoon, and Shaq Fu.

1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
2. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
3. DIRT RALLY
4. Rocket League
5. Invisible Inc.
6. Nuclear Throne
7. Broforce
8. Pro Evolution Soccer 2016
9. HELLDIVERS
10. Tales From The Borderlands
There is a large number of games I have yet to play that aren't here, including: Undertale, SOMA, Talos Principle + Expansion, Just Cause 3, Bloodborne, Until Dawn (not completed yet!)
Games that came close, I love and adore, but just not quite as much: Her Story, Prison Architect, Elite: Dangerous (Can I count that this year what with the updates?)

Oh man this'll be tough...
1. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - so much content, so much freee dlc, probably sunk the most time here. 2. MGSV - the gameplay was sooooo good. 3. Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy - I only finally played it this year, but I love Layton. 4. Fallout 4- ugh I'm such a ssucker for apocalyptic 50s settings (or just 50 settings). I enjoyed this a lot. 5. NBA2k16- I just like basketball games a lot. 6. Rocket League is fun despite my terribad 7. Sonic the hedgehog 2 3d 8. Trails in the sky second chapter - holy shit it actually came out.
Oh also 2 entries that I didn't play for the first time this year, I just like to make people listen to their existence when I can: 9. Zombies ate my neighbors 10. Toejam and earl in panic on funkotron

My list is all over the place, both in release date and genre. And I may have missed some I didn't buy via steam but on GOG or Humble...
1. Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes - If you don't know it, just don't watch any videos, buy it, grab one or more friends and have the funniest hours you had in a very long time!
2. This War Of Mine - It's just so incredibly intense in the first playthrough, but looses that feeling gradually in later tries.
3. Gods Will Be Watching - I don't even know how to describe this. It's some kind of hybrid between Point'n'Click and resource management and yet completely different from whatever you're picturing now.
4. The Wolf Among Us - Not quite as good as The Walking Dead, but still good Telltale quality.
5. American McGee's Alice - It's only decent in terms of gameplay, but the art design and general atmosphere is incredible for a 15 year old game.
6. To The Moon - Do we really need a comment on this?
7. Life is Strange - I'm only in Episode 3 yet, but I'm sure it belongs in this list. Just the position is not final.
8. Tomb Raider Anniversary - I don't really like the "older" Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raiders but this Remake of the very first one for some reason just resonates with me. I think because of the incredible environments and the lack of shitty story and atrocious elements like motorbike chases.
9. Evil Genius - It's such a unique concept and executed with so much humor that you just can't not like it.
10. Magic Duels - The execution may not be top of the line but Magic is just such a good Card Game that I still enjoy playing this.
Honorable Mentions: Karmaflow - It's not really good as a game but if you're into metal music, make sure to check it out for the soundtrack!
Don't ever buy: Velvet Assassin - This might very well be the Stealth Game with the most boring environments and the dullest gameplay I've ever played.

Last minute contender - Contradiction, the FMV murder mystery game. Played it over the last day or so, and had a great time. Hoping for a sequel. It's not the best game ever made, and it has a few "so bad it's good" moments, but the main character was loveable, (the actor was clearly having a great time,) and the plot is very swervy. It literally starts out as "investigating a murder in a small town," then escalates to "everyone has a secret, and is corrupt in some way," then when you accuse a guy of selling drugs, suddenly he says, "Well those guys run a Satan-worshipping cult where they brainwash people and sell them as slaves!" and then it goes further, to the point where a witness says, "they made me get posessed by a demon!" Seriously, this game is bananas in all the right ways.

Since I am lazy, this will just be a copy/paste job of my list on GAF: 1. The Witcher 3: Wild hunt ; I had very high expectations for this game, and it delivered in spades. The combat may not be the best ever (but still is more than adequate), but the world and universe are some of the best I have ever seen in a game. It is gorgeous yet feels like a terrible place at the same time, it is believable yet fantastical. I completely fell in love with the world of the Witcher, I even start reading the books! It is just amazing. But that is not even the best part of the Witcher 3, that would be the quests. So many open world games have way too many standard, busy work fetch quests, and while the witcher has some of those here and there, yet the huge number of quests that ARE interesting, DO have depth and great characters and hard choices is kinda absurd. It shows that quality AND quantity are not necessarily at odds with each other, something that is extremely impressive. Just the sheer breadth and number of interesting stories that you can find in the game is truly unparalleled and sets a new standard for open world games. Not only is this my GOTY, it is a strong front runner for GOTG right now. Truly a masterpiece. 2. Ori and the blind forest ; Man, that opening. MAN, THAT OPENING. One of the most emotional strong scenes I have ever seen in a game. A near perfect mix of amazing animation and a fantastic soundtrack immediately shows that Ori is incredibly ambitious. And when the game actually starts, it turns out that not only does it sound and look absolutely stunning, it plays great too. Controlling ori feels almost perfect, and when you die in one of the games many hard as nails platforming segments it never feels that happened because of something out of your control. The game really does feel like a sort of metroidvania version of super meat boy with absolutely stunning 2D graphics and animation. Not only one of the best games of the year, but one of the best 2D platformers I have ever played period. This game is a work of art. 3. Grand theft auto V ; Finally came to the PC this year and the port is actually good! The game looks great and Los Santos may be the most detailed open world I have ever seen. The gameplay and missions are also vastly improved from GTA IV, which a lot more over the top crazy stuff happening. The story and characters, while good, could have been better though. Especially the story has some pacing problems. Still, holy shit Los Santos is so full of details it is almost unbelievable. 4. Metal gear solid V: the phantom pain ; The “anti metal gear”. Previous entries in the series I played for the story and characters while the gamplay was so-so. This game I played for the gameplay while the story and characters were…..almost non-existent. Assaulting a base, either while using stealth or going full on rambo, feels amazing, the game is truly a joy to play. But the story just isn’t there, and especially the characters are just….flat and boring, they do jack shit. Especially in chapter 2 that becomes apparent, and that last mission that forces you to redo that segment is just really boring and such a stupid idea. The final twist was….OK I guess but also felt really forced and just there to have a twist, it didn’t really serve any purpose. But damn if this game doesn’t feel great to play. 5. Tales from the borderlands ; I didn’t care about the borderlands universe. I now care about the borderlands universe. Not only is this by far the funniest telltale game, it also has the best characters. I really did care about what happened to them, something I never thought I would say about characters in a borderlands game. Sure, your choices don’t seem to have that much of an impact, and there isn’t really much gameplay, but I didn’t care, I was more than happy to just sit back and watch this like a really good TV-show about borderlands. One of telltales best games. 6. Fallout 4 ; This game was a bit of a dissapointment. Sure, the shooting is 10x better than in fallout 3, which is great! but outside of that bethesda games just seems to have stagnated or at some aspects even gotten worse! There are way too many loading screens and they are way too long, the performance on pc fluctuates ridiculously, the graphics aren’t that great, the level up/skill system has become worse (no leveling up specific skills by using them?), there are still way too many fetch quests and the new dialog system is an abomination. A lot of past bethesda games had the same issues, but I guess I just expected more of it considering the length of this games development cycle and this being a new generation of consoles. I still love this type of game, and that is the reason why it is still relatively high up on this list, but all the other bethesda games were GOTY candidates for me. Fallout 4 is a great game, but is certainly not a GOTY candidate. 7. Undertale ; Undertale may not be the best looking, best playing or most ambitious game of the year, but it is one of the smartest games I have ever played, is funny and has a shitload of personality. Almost every character in the game is interesting and fun, and it has more than a few genuine funny moments. But the real strength of undertale is how it plays with it’s own gameplay elements in smart and unexpected ways, and even uses your own presumptions about game elements you have seen 100 times in such a way that turns them on their head and surprises you. I didn’t care for the core gameplay, and it really speaks for everything surrounding it that this game still made it onto my list. It’s surprising, full of personality, funny and above all very, VERY smart. 8. Starcraft II: Legacy of the void ; I like RTS games with base building. Unfortunately, that genre has almost completely died out. Starcraft II is one of the last remaining signs of life of the genre. And with this add-on Blizzard created another great campaign filled with fun missions and...eh...a story that makes no sense and is kinda bad. But I don’t care, I just want to play a bunch of fun campaign missions and this add-on delivers exactly that. The co-op missions are a great addition and it is a blast to tackle missions with a friend. 9. Batman: arkham knight ; I love the batman series. Asylum and City were my GOTY in their respectable years. Arkham knight still has the great combat, fun stealth encounters, interesting villains, amazing graphics and fun collecteton (yes, I am one of those persons that actually like the riddler stuff!) that made me fall in love with this series. It also has a bunch of additions I really didn’t care about. The batmobile in particular felt like just adding stuff to add stuff. Driving around is fine, but man the tank combat is boring as shit. And there is soooo much of it, even most of the bosses are now tank battles. It really sucks. Even the combat had some things added to it which imo made it to complex. There are so many button combinations you have to remember and counters to specific enemies, it just all has become a bit to much. They needed to scale it back, more options is not always better. It still shows signs of the brilliance that is the arkham series, unfortunately it is buried beneath a pile of boring stuff this time around. And then there is of course the fact that it took THREE FUCKING MONTHS before I could actually play the game on my pc without it stuttering like a madman. That was just embarrassing. 10. Lara croft Go ; Looks great, plays great, very fun game for if you have a couple of minutes to spare. I love the way the Go series reinvents well known series into fun little mobile puzzle games. Keep them coming!

Every game? Uhu. 1. Bloodborne My new favourite game of alltime depending on the day (Mass Effect 2!). 2. The Last of Us: RemasteredThe SP was great, but the MP puts it on another level. Also in my Top 10 of alltime. 3. Rocket LeagueOh my god. If TLoU's MP is what I needed a TPS to be, Rocket League is everything I need a game in general to be: Absolute fun, competitive, easy to learn - hard to master. Multiplayer Perfection. Top 10 of alltime, for sure. 4. TransistorThe perfect balance of length, customization, story and art style - I love this game so much. Another Top 10 GOAT-entry. 5. Until Dawn The horror genre, the teenie slasher-genre to be more specific - is the most joyous genre of all genres (Did I mentioned "genre", yet?). So Until Dawn is the perfect match for my sensibilities. A well-known cast, great atmosphere and a fun, flexible dynamic between the characters, systems and the story. 6. The Witcher 3: Wild HuntCombat wasn't all that great, especially after Bloodborne, but oh my god - the world, the characters, the music - all in all impeccable design from top to bottom in terms of world-building. Second to none. A masterclass. 7. DriveclubI'm not a driving game fan, per se. But I appreciate Driveclub on so many levels (Support, its focus on track-learning without driving line, balance of limited scope vs. depth). 8. Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced EditionGot to the first area's final boss and I got whiped instantly, which killed my momentum quite a bit. What I played before was excellent throughout, though and if I ever finish it - it will probably rise in my estimation even further. Albeit never beating it or really understanding its systems Baldur'r Gate was the original RPG I played, Divinity brought me back. (I have no gaming PC at the moment, it kills my heart) 9. ApotheonIt got a good reception, but nothing more. I liked it quite a bit. From the story to the level/art design to the combat and weapon system. 10. Olli Olli 2: Welcome to OlliwoodI wasn't hardcore into Olli Olli 2, but it brought back the feeling I had with Hotline Miami (another Top 10 GOAT-entry, woah) - fast-paced, addicting, awesome soundtrack. Just because I talked so much about it, here's my Top 10 GOAT-list 1. Bloodborne 2. Mass Effect 2 3. Tales of Symphonia 4. Pokemon Blue 5. Golden Sun: The Lost Age 6. The Last of Us: Remastered 7. Rocket League 8. Grand Theft Auto V 9. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages/Link's Awakening/Minish Cap (Cheating!) 10. World of Warcraft (Basically only the first 30 minutes I've ever played. But it where the most wonderous of my gaming live, easily securing it's place in this list for the forever)

List of games I've played this year:
1. Pokemon Alpha Sapphire: I skipped Gen 3, and after seeing the Pokedex, I can sort of see why. Where are the good Fire types if you don't pick Blaziken? Better post-game than X/Y and improved breeding/training mechanics make up for it though.
2. Fire Emblem Awakening: As my first Fire Emblem game, it wasn't too complex and was pretty enjoyable. It wasn't grindy or too kawaii for a jRPG either.
3. Pokemon Shuffle: Why do I keep playing this? It's a standard F2P game, but I keep trying to catch them all, even if the difficulty is getting ridiculous.
4. Hearthstone: Way too much RNG and pay to win but it's simple and easy to play in small doses.
5. DotA 2: If I didn't already have MOBA experience I'd have probably quit this game a long time ago. Playing with friends makes it bearable.
6. Splatoon: The squid and inking mechanic made it a blast to play and a breath of fresh air in the TPS genre.
7. Super Mario 3D World: It's not Galaxy or 64 but it stands on its own as yet another fantastic 3D platformer.
