Rules and Guidelines

Outer Gafia is a separate (but connected) forum to NeoGAF. This enables us to be a little more free with the rules and regulations. However, we ask that you keep the following in mind:
1. Be (reasonably) nice to one another
Yeah, I know. This is Gafia. We're hunting scum, and we love to give each other all kinds of shit. That's fine. If you can dish it out, you should be able to take it. However, if behavior is deemed by more than one moderator to be over the edge of good fun and into "bullying," then it will be stopped, in whatever way is needed, up to and including a ban. (Why yes, that would make future games tricky. How would we work that out? Don't make us figure it out.)
I don't forsee this being a problem, (our community is great) but let's set the expectation now.
2. Be considerate of one another in the use of images
We're all adults here. (At least, I think we are.) This forum can get a little more risque than GAF ever has. That's okay. However, be mindful before you post. Some people here post from work, or next to their significant others. If there is the slightest chance that an image is going to be Not Safe For Work, either don't post it or put it behind spoiler tags. Also, please consider your avatars before uploading them.
3. Alternate accounts are not allowed
Because of the nature of how the boards are set up, I cannot allow alt accounts, as they compromise the security of the games. I am made aware of every account that is set up. If I do not recognize an account, (or if an alt is created,) it will be blocked from accessing anything but the general board until I speak with the user. If this becomes a problem, then all future accounts will require authorization to be created. If an alt is created, I will generally delete the account with the lower post count. If you have lost access to your account, please PM me on NeoGAF, and we will see what we can do.
If you want a different name, your name can be changed in profile settings. Users may also post in some areas without accounts, and in those areas, the site will allow you to choose a name.
4. Please, no spoilers
If you've seen the outcome of a game, please don't spoil it for others!
5. Do not "like" posts in active game threads if you are not playing the game.
Did you know that we have a "like" button for threads? We do! It's the little thumbs up on top of each post. And I think it's a great way to be more positive in this community. However, if a non-player "likes" a post in an active game, it may confuse the players, or even spoil the game. So please, don't "like" game posts if you aren't playing. If you are playing, go nuts!
If the "like" button somehow becomes a problem, I will disable it. I'd rather not, though. I "like" it.
6. Do not (completely) change your name while in an active game.
While having the ability to change your display name is one of the more fun aspects of Outer Gafia, we do ask that players in an active game refrain from completely changing their names. This makes it difficult for players to identify who they are playing with.
A simple change that still involves part of your original name, like from "Retro" to "Retro Snake" is acceptable.
A change from "Retro" to "Jack Sparrow" is not.
This rule may be overridden at the digression of the the Game Runner.
This is obviously just the first draft of a rule list. I want to keep this place kind of loose, but if we run into problems, these rules can easily be tightened and enforced. If you have other suggestions for rules and guidelines, please post them below.
